Workouts (4-5 times per week)

My workout goals are to gain strength and flexibility. My diet dictates my weight. Generally the workout takes 60-90 minutes. I do four separate workouts: chest, arms, shoulders & back, and legs. I start each workout with 15-20 minutes of cardio to warm up my body. I stretch in between sets. Most of my daily stretching is done first thing in the morning. I have always preferred weights to cardio. I do three sets of 4-6 different exercises. I work my muscle to a failure, lifting as much weight as I can for 10-12 reps.

Nutrition

In order to maintain my energy, I eat three meals a day and 2-3 snacks. I try to get at least 30 grams of protein in my system every three hours to promote muscle growth. My meals are mostly high protein, medium carb meals, including a lot of fruits and a shake. On the golf course during a round I snack on nutrition bars or trail mix. As far as indulgences, Soy Dream ice cream or jello.

Golf

Tempo - I think the most important part of the golf swing is establishing tempo. Whatever speed your swing is, try and repeat in order to establish consistency. Good tempo leads to good timing and contact.

Putting - Get back on track. In order to improve your stroke, try a drill that will provide a consistent putting stroke. Find a straight 5-8 foot putt. Take two long irons and place one putter blade wide aimed parallel to the hole. Place the ball inside your parallel track and try and keep the putter in the track while you stroke the ball to the hole. This is a great warm up drill to get the putter in place. 

Short game - Experiment. Hitting shots around the green takes feel, confidence and imagination. Try experimenting with different clubs, trajectories and even grips. Move your hands up and down the shaft and establish what feels good to you. Try placing the ball off the front of your stance for more spin and high lofted shots. Off your back foot for a low release shot. You can never experiment enough with your short game because when you get on the golf course you are always faced with a new situation.
